I'm a Daddy!!!!

Dillan Hardy has entered this world at 7 lbs 8 ounces and 19 inches long. He is very healthy and eating well. He likes to eat, even when he isn't getting any milk! He slept a lot the first day and since he was circumcised today he has been a little bit more awnry but is still doing great. His left foot was slanted to the left when he was bored because it was probably kind of smashed funny inside her tummy. Because of that we need to hold his foot straight a few times to exercise it whenever we change his diaper. All in all he has all fingers and toes and is the cutest little boy ever!

I personally would like to take credit for many of the wonderful (understatement) furnishings that we have been able to find such great prices (thanks to ksl.com) on that so amazingly fit the personality of our little tike inside of Kellie's big tummy.

The Dillan train was provided by Chelsea Pickup so i can't take credit for that and the cool Airplane mobile was from her mom, but check out that sweet Crib bedding set. Oooh, that's nice. Full of track hoes, dump trucks, and other construction paraphernalia. I think it is all pretty awesome and have been giddy ever since i got home, and needed to post it so others can share in my giddyness (although i don't really expect you to) You might not be able to see it but the blanket below that Kellie made (after i picked out the cool fabric) has tractors and construction cones etc.















Bottom line is: i'm excited to have a boy and get cool boy stuff for really cheap! Yeah

Life Got Crazy

Once school started we ran out of extra time to post anything on our blog. I'm doing 9 credits at school, working 20 hours, and being pregnant. Kyle is working even more and taking 14.5 credits. We have decided to name our baby Dillan. This decision was based on trial and error, I started calling him a name and it wouldn't seem right, so I would try a different one. Dillan is the only name that felt right, so we're keeping it!
Here is our last month at a glance:

• we went to a junkyard to get wheels for Kyle's car
• I learned to sew some baby blankets with my mom
  
• school started
• we resigned our apartment contract (and rent went up, we're a little upset about that)
• we finally resized Kyle's wedding ring, which he hadn't wore for about 5 months)
• we went to a BMX competition in Salt Lake (Kyle had to teach me the difference between BMX bikes and motorbikes, I think it embarrassed him)
• we went to the ward campout (camping a pregnancy do not go together well)
  
• I had my birthday, and am now 22
• we are still teaching the 6 year olds in primary, I think their behavior is getting worse as the year goes on
  
• I had the gestational diabetes test, the results? low iron, but no diabetes
• Kyle got me the book Brisingr which I haven't had time to start yet, but he has!
• I gained 7 pounds in 4 weeks (I don't know how I feel about that)
• In one day I had an eye appointment, a bridal shower, a baby shower for myself, and Womon's Conference--I wasn't feeling well by the end of the day
• my sister threw me a baby shower, which I am very grateful for
• Kyle had a mission reunion
• I made a huge stuffed puppy for Dillan, which he probably won't appreciate for another year
  
• I got really big and now own maternity clothes (which make me feel fat)
• we just finished watching General Conference
• Kyle's birthday is tomorrow

Wow! I don't know how we do all of that and go to work and school, the Lord is really helping us get through this crazy semester!

Sewing my puppy made a big mess. It covered the whole front room for 3 days!
I learned the faux fur is really hard to work with. It turned out really cute!

I got this skirt and petticoat idea from watching The Devil Wears Prada.
I made up the pattern for the petticoat and modified another pattern for skirt.
It took a few months from start to finish, but its finally done!

We Are Grateful--Family Home Evening Lesson

We just had a family home evening lesson on gratitude and realized that we are super grateful for our parents. Here are a few reasons why:

• financial support
• unconditional love
• driving us around as kids
• sacrificing for us since birth
• wisdom and advice
• homes full of love
• being raised with the gospel and good values
• giving us opportunities to learn who we are
• still being our parents, even after we've left home
• patience
• and for all the other things that we can't write down

Schools Out!

I finished my advance writing course last week. My job is also over until the Fall semester starts up. So I have a lot of free time. Keeping in mind the little guy in my stomach, this is probably the last time in my life I will have this much free time, so I've decided to be grateful instead of bored. Here's the last week and a half at a glance:

• Kyle and I both worked a lot
• We went to our niece's 1st birthday party
• We got the last book in the Twilight series and spend way too much time reading it every night.
• Kyle worked on his Independent Study class most of Saturday...I was bored out of my mind most of Saturday
• We read together all day Sunday, only taking a break for dinner and church
• I cleaned the apartment all day Monday. You'd think after a whole day cleaning that the place would be clean, it's not true. Kyle came home and helped clean some more, now it's almost all the way clean, that's how dirty it was. That's more than I should admit online.
• We went up the canyon one night and had a dutch oven dinner...delicious.
• My mother-in-law came in town and brought us 3 lbs. of blueberries that she had picked in Oregon. The blueberries are already gone; Kyle is kind of sad about that.

We are still trying to name the kid in my stomach, so if you have any good ideas we're ready to listen.

These are some pictures of us at a nearby outdoor amphitheater where we watched the movie Dan in Real Life.

We also arrived at our 1st year anniversary and although we are going to celebrate it in a couple of weeks we went to a pottery shop and painted a vase and a dragon. Hooray!!
We decided that from now on it would be more economical to just celebrate things on the actually date that way you don't end up doing things on both days and spending more money. : )

1st Anniversary

It's kind of crazy that a whole year has gone by! (We were married on Aug. 4th.) What was even weirder is the next day when I realized I was in my second year of marriage. I think it's like turning 21 or going to college. Once you hit that marker you are kind of at a loss of what to do with yourself, because you've never looked beyond. So here I am in the world beyond, and I'm glad to be spending it with Kyle.

Things I've learned from the first year of marriage (in no particular order):
1. When single friends complain that they'll never see you again because you are getting married it's really their fault. They stop calling you or inviting you to do things.
2. In my family, the lid disappears off the milk carton faster than brownies get eaten. In reality, the milk should have the lid on it for the full lifespan of the carton. This is a new concept to me; Kyle is helping me sort through this discovery.
3. Switching which side of the bed you sleep on is okay.
4. It's not the 1st year of marriage that is hard. The hard part is introducing a baby (or pregnancy) into the picture.
5. Don't think about whose fault it is, that isn't important.
6. It's okay if your life isn't like TV and you actually love your in-laws.
7. At some point you want to start spending time with other couples (this has taken us awhile), then you have to remember who you know that is also in a relationship. And then you start wishing you had more friends.
8. When you leave the place a mess, it's still a mess when you come back.

9. Yes, we are still idiots together after a whole year of marriage! See picture below for proof.

10. Love grows when you're not looking. (We had a kissing picture, but Kyle didn't approve of it going on the internet, so if you're glad to not have to look at it, thank Kyle!)
11. As much as people like to joke about re-gifting and wedding registries, you really do get a lot of useful stuff at your wedding. So thanks everyone for contributing to a great 1st year of marriage!
12. We aren't as smart as we think. We end up calling our parents with questions about cooking or cleaning or taxes or loans about every other week. Thank goodness for parents!

Guess the Gender!

Kyle and I finally got to find out what gender our baby is! I thought it was a boy, Kyle was worried that since we couldn't agree on a boy's name that we would only get girl babies. Only my mom and one of my friends thought it was girl. So who was right? Well...It's a BOY! The doctor decided he was a very stubborn child, because he wouldn't uncurl (his feet were by his head most of the time), making maneuvering around his body difficult during the ultrasound.

We haven't been able to settle on a boy name, so let us know what your vote is! These are the ones we are deciding between: Christian, Tanner, Sawyer, Keagan, Dillan.

These were my latest sewing projects, they're a birthday present for my niece.

The Baby is Taking Over the Apartment!

We are only half way through this pregnancy and the baby is already making a mess: gifts are beginning to clutter our apartment! We got the crib and put it together last week (now all the gifts are hidden away in the crib). Then we realized that the bedroom had to be rearranged and cleaned out to make space for this new adventure. We even had to change sides of the bed so Kellie could go to the bathroom during the night.

The Good Old Days

When Kyle and I were dating, we did a lot of cool things (funny how that stops once you get married). These are pictures of a trip we took to see Corkscrew Canyon in Arizona. It makes me miss that adventurous time in our lives.




This canyon was actually formed by water rushing through during flash floods. It is only about 200 feet long, and on each end of the canyon it opens up to flat sand. Amazing the unexpected things that nature can do.

My First Post!

I would like to first point out that my mother-in-law started a blog more than 6 months ago, so I'm feeling pretty behind. Now I am officially up-to-date in the world for having a blog for my family.

I am 20 weeks pregnant, and have started having hormone problems. Yesterday I cried uncontrollably for no reason. Finally I called my friend, who made me laugh so I could finally calm down a little.

Kyle has Thursday and Friday off, so we are looking forward to a nice long weekend.

Now all I have to figure out is how to get pictures on here ;)
